Remember.

Put down the bar-b-que tongs for a minute and give a silent thank you to our nation's war dead.

Or better yet, give an out-loud hearty "THANK YOU!" to a live Veteran.

Please, folks, support the Korean War Project. Every little bit helps.

Baby Prep!

So, we have had 2 rounds of "false Labor" so far (probably really Stage 1 of actual labor, but what do you do.) I called in to S-Mart last night, I was toasted, felt like crap, and had overslept anyway. 9 Minutes late=tardy=unexcused absence with that place, so I figured why bother? I may be canned tonight, I may not. I'm too fried to care either way- I'll go in tonight & find out, as long as Baby isn't pending.

Our bags are packed, and all that is left to go in them are the "unpluggables-" you know, the laptop, the camera/chargers/batteries, etc.

Pics of the young'n will go up after he arrives- whic is te4chnically 'posed to be on June 4, but the way it's going, I may have to switch out some Alexandrite for emeralds.
It's all good.

So, here is a pic of the Daddy "Go-Bag."

Armchair commandos will like most of it, but it is you HHG lovers that will get that THIS Daddy is really trying to be a Hoopy Frood for his new family.

Busy Busy Busy!

Holy crap, is there a LOT going on. Almost no time to post here these days.
I have about a dozen weapons I'm working on, including 2 I need to get done for myself or relatives, and a ton of photos that need shot.

I still have yet to hook up the vinyl cutter, rebuild the computer that will be dedicated to it, and the Boy will be here sometime in the first week of June.
I need a clone.

So quickly:

I like MY rainbow better than Skittles (FNFAL mags, color coded for different loadings)

So I'm driving through Des Moines the other day, and blow past an African Grocery store.
I may have to stop & go in, mostly because I want to know what the frak an "ANFRAK" is.

And lastly, nbut not leastly, here is an FAL Test magazine with the popular "pine-straw" or "broom straw" camo pattern. The base color is MagPul Flat Dark Earth, the overlays are Sniper Green, Desert Mirage Brown and Matte Black, followed up witha matte clearcoat.
I have yet to find an Iowa appropriate shade of green, but reckon I'll get there somtime soon.

So, TTFN and have a lovely rest of May.

Happy Patriot's Day!

I slept all day today- something about 4 hours of sleep in a 48 hour stretch did me in. % hours of paid labor yesterday, and 10 hours plus of observation at the Ames, shooting event yesterday, and I was fried. I left for Ames right after my post- S-Mart shower, and was there for most of the morning setup. It's hard to meet a nicer set of people willing to help others learn to become better shooters. Can you guess by this first picture what event I attended?

It was an awesome day, and I learned a lot, even though I didn't have a slot to shoot from (pre-register EARLY folks!) Appleseeds all over the country sold out for this last weekend; if there is ever a time to attend one, let me tell you- it is over a Patriot's Day weekend.
The cool extra stuff that occurs is indescribeable, and I'll reserve it for those that actually have it in them to attend one. The rest of you are missing out on the best shooting information you will ever learn in relation to your rifle. Call it "yoga for Rflemen," or "Body Mechanics 101," whatever. It ROCKS. I will attend again, shoot, and take others with me. This soon-to-be new daddy will NOT "be a Cook.."

No longer will I be like a trained ape, without the training.

AWB II

Pelosi is bat$hit crazy.
Just sayin'.

From the Hill:

"During an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America," Pelosi said that the Congress will work to find some middle ground between the previous ban, which expired in 2004, and the precedent laid by the Supreme Court in a ruling enumerating more concrete gunowners' rights last term."

Alternate Reality Axe-type commerical

Kinda different. Saw this over @ House of Eratosthenes.

It made me giggle. I guess there is still some 14 year-old left, after all.
